چکیده
SYNOPSIS Advanced bridge analysis and design methods have been simplified with the aid of modern bridge software. This paper provides a summary of these new analysis and design methods and the advantages that can be achieved. Topics covered include automated vehicle load pattern generation methods to the new Australian Bridge Code (AS5100) and the New Zealand Transit Manual, recent developments in composite analysis methods for bridges, and the integration of analysis and design procedures.

Dynamic Analysis of Suspension Footbridges Using an Actual Pedestrian Load Model Compared with EUR23984 EN Requirements
The suspension footbridges are very flexible due to their geometrical structure; hence they may face severe vibration problems induced mainly by natural forces and pedestrians crossing. By exceeding a certain limit, these vibrations can disturb the serviceability of the bridge as well as health and safety of the structure and pedestrians. Therefore, standard design guidelines are sets of recomm...
متن کاملDesign Analysis of Single-span Advanced Composite Deck-and-stringer Bridge Systems
There is a concern with worldwide deterioration of highway bridges, particularly reinforced concrete. Due to the corrosive nature of steel re-bars used in concrete bridge decks, the service-life of these bridges is reduced. The advantages of advanced composite materials (ACM) over conventional materials motivate their use in highway bridges for rehabilitation and replacement of structures. Howe...
متن کاملThe Effect of Authentic and Simplified Literary Texts on the Reading Comprehension of Iranian Advanced EFL Learners
The present quasi-experimental study mainly investigates the role of literature as input for reading comprehension in Iranian EFL classrooms. To be more exact, it investigates the effects of authentic and simplified literary texts on the reading comprehension of Iranian advanced EFL learners. The participants were 35 male and female Iranian EFL learners who were at advanced level, studying in a...
متن کاملPERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OPTIMIZATION FOR MULI-COLUMN RC BRIDGE PIERS, CONSIDERING QUASI-ISOLATION
In this paper an optimization framework is presented for automated performance-based seismic design of bridges consisting of multi-column RC pier substructures. The beneficial effects of fusing components on seismic performance of the quasi-isolated system is duly addressed in analysis and design. The proposed method is based on a two-step structural analysis consisting of a linear modal dynami...
متن کاملSystem reliability models for bridge structures
There is a growing need for a more accurate assessment of the load carrying capacity of highway bridges. The traditional approach is based on consideration of individual components rather than structures. Consequently, the acceptance criteria are formulated in terms of the allowable stress, or ultimate moment, in a component. However, it has been observed that the load carrying capacity of the ...
